Whistleblower officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi (IFS:2002) yesterday conferred with Asia’s most coveted prize Magsaysay Award for 2015 along with founder of Goonj (an NGO) Anshu Gupta by the Philippine President Benigno Aquino III in a ceremony at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Manila. Chaturvedi remarked this award as “huge morale booster” for honest and sincere civil servants in Asia.
The Board of Trustees of the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation had selected Chaturvedi for Emergent Leadership, recognising his “exemplary integrity, courage and tenacity in uncompromisingly exposing and painstakingly investigating corruption.”
Chatuvedi currently posted at centre was removed by Govt of India from his post of CVO, AIIMS.
During his previous stint in cadre state of Haryana he had exposed irregularities in Haryana.
He was also wanted by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to wipe out corruption in the Capital. Had the Centre relieved Chaturvedi he would have contributed his services as Chief of Anti Corruption Bureau, Govt of Delhi. But some technicalities & Govt’s unwillingness deprived Delgi of his valued services. Though he continues with AIIMS but without any specific assignment.
