The Govt of Uttarakhand has extended by three months the services of the outgoing Chief Secretary, Rakesh Sharma (IAS:1981:UT), who was scheduled to retire on October 31. Sharma took the charge from N Ravi Shankar (IAS:1980:UK) on July 31 this year and has been on the job for barely three months. With his services extended he will continue till January 31, 2016.
‘Indianmandarins’ has learnt that Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat has personally spoken twice to the top Central authority concerned, seeking a six-month extension for Sharma. However, the Central government turned down the proposal. So using its discretionary powers, the State Government extended his services by three months.
