New Delhi (09.12.2021): Those flocking the corridors of power in the Capital are complaining that they are unable to get the wine brand of their choice. The reason for this shortage is the Delhi government’s New Excise Policy. This new policy came into force last month that led to the closure of all old liquor shops. New liquor shops have been issued licenses and they are starting their operation. This is a transition time when new liquor shops will take a couple of months to have several brands of liquor available with them. But the connoisseurs of liquor have started complaining and they need to wait for the New Year when their desire will get fulfilled.

Some important features of the New Excise Policy are that all the Hotels, clubs, and restaurants may serve liquor till 3 am. Earlier they had to stop serving liquor by 11 pm. These Hotels and restaurants can serve liquor on their terrace. Delhi government will issue licenses for Super Premium Shops in posh localities like Greater Kailash to cater to the needs of high-end customers. Every ward in Delhi will have at least three liquor shops. The age limit to purchase liquor was 25 years which has been reduced to 21 years in the New Excise Policy.
