New Delhi (08.12.2021): Gujarat government’s total ban on the sale of liquor may be relaxed for the GIFT city. This departure from the stern provision of a total ban on liquor sale has a valid reason as the relaxation will be available exclusively in GIFT (Gujarat International Finance Tech-City) city. This relaxation will not be available beyond the boundary of the GIFT city in Gujarat. Gujarat government is keen on encouraging evening social life in the GIFT city which is likely to emerge as the country’s first international financial services centre. Sources said that a proposal has been sent to the Excise department seeking relaxation in liquor law for the special economic zone area of GIFT city. This relaxation in liquor law may take shape before the Gujarat Global Summit scheduled in the month of January. This relaxation may lure the talent in international companies to set up their venture in Gujarat. This will help launching of GIFT city with a fanfare of international standard where evening life matters a lot.
