New Delhi (29.12.2020): The West Bengal government on Monday promoted Rajeev Mishra (IPS:1996:WB) as Additional DG. Mishra (IG of South Bengal) is one of the three IPS officers who was summoned by the Centre after BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda’s convoy was attacked earlier this month. However, another IPS officer Bholanath Pandey has been transferred to the less significant post of SP Home Guard. During the incident, he was SP Diamond Harbour.

After the attack on convoy Union Ministry of Home Affairs had posted the three IPS officers, responsible for JP Nadda's security, from the state on central deputation for five years.

The MHA on December 16 had ordered the transfer of Rajeev Mishra to ITBP, Bholanath Pandey to Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) and Praveen Tripathi (DIG, Presidency Range) to SSB DIG.

The Mamta Banerjee government, however, refused to relieve the three IPS officers claiming that the Centre's order was unconstitutional and thus unacceptable.
