New Delhi (10.02.2021): Former Chief Secretary of Jharkhand Dr Devendra Kumar Tiwari (Retd IAS:1986:JH) was on Tuesday appointed as the new State Election Commissioner (SEC) of Jharkhand for a tenure of three years from the date of assuming charge of the office or till the date he attains the age of 64 years. The coveted post fell vacant after N N Pandey completed his term in June 2020. DK Tiwari, an MBBS graduate of King George's Medical University, retired as Chief Secretary (Jharkhand) on 31 March 2020. With the appointment of DK Tiwari as the new State Election Commissioner, the way is clear for holding Panchayat elections in the State. The three-tier panchayat elections were due in November-December 2020 in the State and were put on hold due to Covid 19 pandemic and vacancies at top positions in State Election Commission.
