MIL is a key Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. His appointment as CMD comes at a crucial time when MIL is expanding its production capacity and diversifying its product portfolio to meet the growing requirements of India’s armed forces and export markets.

It may be underlined that MIL was carved out of the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) as part of the Government of India’s defence sector reforms, is responsible for the production of ammunition and explosives for defence and civil applications.
