New Delhi (10.08.2021): The Congress is trying to unite the rest of the Opposition political parties against the BJP but Shiv Sena, Shiromani Akali Dal and Biju Janata Dal joining the birthday bash of former Union minister Kapil Sibel has definitely something more to tell. Another interesting aspect of the gathering was that Gandhies were not present at the dinner hosted by the former Union minister. AAP was neither invited by Rahul Gandhi nor by Sibel which means they don’t fit into it for their unreliability. Actually, the storm in the tea cup has changed the course of Indian politics in 1999 when a tea party organized by former Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy brought AIDMK leader J Jayalalithaa and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi face to face which became instrumental in bringing down the coalition government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. But the BJP is in power with a brute majority at the moment and has successfully been able to implement its programs under the leadership of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister. But this has decimated the entire opposition. Besides opposition leaders, some of the dissenting leaders of the Congress were also present at the bash hosted by Sibel. See if the Nehru-Gandhi family works as a glue for the entire party it drifts away from a certain section of Opposition from it despite having a similar ideological frame of mind. The presence of Lalu Prasad in the gathering was also surprising despite Gandhies not being around. So, after a long time, the entire opposition including parties from southern India represented by DMK with its leader Tiruchi Shiva were present. TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'Brien, former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, and RLD leader Jayant Choudhary were some other leaders present. So almost all the opposition leaders who are opposed to the BJP were present. Some churning is certainly going on everywhere, not only in the Congress as Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar seems to be very active in organizing meetings of leaders of various political parties. Information is that leaders have discussed politics in the dinner party but no one is ready to disclose future strategy or it is too early to say anything.
