Chandigarh administrator Banwarilal Purohit has made an appeal to Union Home Minister Amit
Shah to appoint advisor. The post of Administrator has been lying vacant since 01 November 2023 after Dharam Pal (IAS: 1988: AGMUT) hanged his boots on October 31. Currently, the coveted position is being run under ad hoc arrangement. The post of Adviser to Administrator, Chandigarh is commonly known as Chief Secretary, Chandigarh and considered among few most powerful positions in the rank of Additional Secretary in Govt of India.
