New Delhi (04.04.2025): The Governor of Uttarakhand on Saturday appointed the state’s first woman Chief Secretary Radha Raturi (Retd IAS: 1988) as State Chief Information Commissioner. She will serve on this constitutional post for three years or till 65 years of age; whichever earlier.
Handing over the baton to her successor Anand Vardhan (IAS: 1992: UK) she retired as CS on March 31, 2025.
It may be underlined that prior to the appointment as CS she served as the Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister. Replacing Sukhbir Singh Sandhu (IAS: 1988: UD) Raturi became the first woman CS on January 31, 2024, just two months before her retirement. After the completion of his two-month tenure as CS the Uttarakhand government gave her an extension of six months ending 31.03.2025.
A section of bureaucrats says that in addition to serving a larger cause the post is also considered important as some of the facilities are given to a state CIC for the lifetime.
