Denied leave extension, Sujata Karthikeyan joins office

Bhubaneshwar (27.11.2024): Sujata Karthikeyan (IAS: 2000: OD), wife of VK Pandian (Retd IAS: 2000: OD) and now a Biju Janata Dal leader, joined her duties today, a day after Mohan Majhi-led Odisha government rejected her leave extension application for another six months. Sujata Karthikeyan is a native of Odisha while her husband is from Tamil Nadu.
Sujata, Special Secretary in Odisha Finance department, had initially availed six months’ leave immediately after the debacle of the BJD in the 2024 general elections. She had again applied for an extension of her leave for another six months. The development assumes significance as her husband V K Pandian was once termed as shadow CM and undisputed boss of state bureaucracy. V K Pandian, former Secretary to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik took VRS last year and joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) ahead of Odisha Assembly Polls.
