Chandigarh (01.10.2021): The Punjab government has sent 10 names to the Union Public Service Commission for deciding a panel of three officers. The newly-appointed state government will choose a new DGP from the panel comprising three names. The controversy was generated over the appointment of Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota (IPS:1988:PB) as officiating DGP. The 10 eligible officers in the panel are from 1986-batch to 1991-batch.
The officers in the panel include;
  • Siddharth Chattopadhyaya (IPS:1986:PB)
  • Dinkar Gupta (IPS:1987:PB)
  • MK Tiwari (IPS:1987:PB)
  • VK Bhawra (IPS:1987:PB)
  • Prabodh Kumar (IPS:1988:PB)
  • Rohit Choudhary (IPS:1988:PB)
  • Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota (IPS:1988:PB)
  • Sanjeev Kalra (IPS:1989:PB)
  • Parag Jain (IPS:1989:PB), and 
  • Barjinder Kumar Uppal (IPS:1991:PB)
