New Delhi (26.06.2024): The All India Congress Committee office at 24,
Akbar Road is now bustling with activity as hundreds of the Congress workers
and numerous leaders occupying their offices and engaged in enigmatic
deliberations. The ambience inside the AICC campus is telling the story of
revival and rejuvenation in the party cadre as well as leadership. Top leaders Rahul Gandhi and party President Mallikarjun
Khadge were also present, discussing the Assembly election strategy for
Maharashtra. A similar meeting for Jharkhand had already concluded. The mood
was buoyant among the top leaders. Entire campus was crowded with visiting
leaders from different states. The discussion in the AICC media room was
focused on the new-found energy level in the Congress leadership "that was
preparing to go for the kill". In fact, Congress headquarters gave somewhat deserted look
for the past one decade. Top leaders were scarcely visible and the cadre was
also feeling indifferent. As the party has secured 99 Lok Sabha seats and
several independent MPs have accorded support, the sombre mood has suddenly
been converted into aggressive posturing. The top leadership has gauged the
changing public perception and they are making every move in a calculated
manner so that they can score well on the floor of parliament during the
election of Speaker and later, they can take the battle ahead to assembly
elections in four states.
