New Delhi (15.01.2024): In a bid to provide the Chandigarh Administrator a regular Adviser, the New Delhi establishment is reported to be making a fresh move. It is said to be rethinking its earlier proposal to relocate Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma (IAS: 1992: UT) from Puducherry to Chandigarh and considering another IAS officer for the key position.
If sources are to be believed, former DDA Vice Chairperson and incumbent Additional Chief Secretary, Industries (Govt of Delhi) Manish Kumar Gupta (IAS: 1991: UT) has emerged as the new choice for the Chandigarh assignment. The key position has been under an ad hoc arrangement since Dharam Pal (IAS: 1988: AGMUT) retired on October 31, 2023.
Casting doubts on and ruling out the possibility of the said fresh bid, however, another section of insiders says that the additional charge suits the establishment as Administrator Banwarilal Purohit is said to be comfortable with Nitin Kumar Yadav (IAS: 2000: HY), the incumbent Principal Secretary, Home, also functioning as interim Adviser.
