New Delhi (11.04.2025): National Investigation Agency (NIA) got 18-day custody of 26/11 terror attack mastermind Tahawwur Hussain Rana who was extradited to India from the US on April 10, 2025 but besides diplomatic manoeuvring, three IPS officers in the NIA too played crucial role in successfully carrying out the entire mission.
Ashish Batra (IPS: 1997: JH), who was leading the team, is currently posted as IG in NIA. He was assisted by Jaya Roy (IPS: 2011: JH) in this operation. She is working as DIG and is also a Senior Public Relations Officer in NIA. Her presence gave the team strength at legal and media level.
The third prominent member is Prabhat Kumar (IPS: 2019: CG), who played an important role in Rana's custody in the US and coordinated the entire security operation from Delhi Airport to Tihar Jail. The team detained Rana after completing the legal process in the US and brought him to Delhi.
