[caption id="attachment_1850" align="aligncenter" width="424"]                             Cabinet Secretariat[/caption] Senior R&AW officer Arvind Saxena has been appointed as Director, Aviation Research Centre. Keeping in view his seniority a special provision has been put in place. Usually ARC Director reports to R&AW Chief but Saxena will report to NSA Ajit Doval. Earlier he was in strong reckoning for the position of R&AW Chief. ARC is the secretive intelligence agency that operates a fleet of aircraft for surveillance and secret missions. The legendary founding chief of R&AW R N Kao was the first chief of ARC. Previously, Naresh Chandra committee on national security had recommended (during UPA Govt regime) that ARC should be merged with R&AW.  It is a part of the R&AW of the Cabinet Secretariat.
