Delhi (15.05.2023): The Central Secretariat Service (CSS) Forum, a representative body of more than 12 thousand CSS Cadre officers, has announced elections for its Executive Body after the two-year long tenure of its present Executive Body is over. Date for the election of CSS Forum’s executive body has been fixed for June 1 and 2, 2023.
Last date for filing of nomination is May 20, 2023.
Sources said that the present General Secretary Manmohan Verma is not contesting again. He has informed Indianmandarins that he wants freshness in the executive body and expects some new dynamic candidates to takeover the charge. Further names of many candidates from the present executive body and other CSS officers buzzing around in the power corridors. Present Organising Secretary Dev Priya Gupta is being considered as the natural successor of Verma as he was being considered as number two in the present executive body. Apart from him, present Secretary Udit Arya and Present Co treasurer Vineet Mishra are also being considered as big contenders since both are representatives of the largest ASO batch in CSS so far.
CSS Forum elections are important as it is the largest association of a Cadre that forms the backbone of Indian bureaucracy across ministries and departments. The very forum had last year shaken the corridors of North Block by their protest last year in front of MoS DoPT office. They called for a Non-Cooperation movement and pen down strike in the Central Secretariat. After pressure from the CSS Forum, the government took some big decisions. This year it would be pretty exciting to see how the new executive body would perform specially after the historical performance of the existing executive body.
