New Delhi (19.06.2024): If some informed sources are to be believed, the
Railway Board is set to propose re-aligning of the composition of the committee
that interviews and selects the MD of Pipavav Railway Corporation Limited
(PRCL). As of now the three-member selection committee was chaired by Principal
ED, TT (M) and ED (Transport) Railway Board & a Director, PIPAVAV Board as
members. As per the new arrangement, the selection board
would be chaired by a former MD of PRCL. The move is seen to have been taken in
the backdrop of a recent controversy that led the Railway Board to an awkward
situation. It may be underlined that the recently held
selection process of MD, PRCL was claimed to have overlooked the cardinal
principle of seniority as junior officers, as chairman and member, interviewed
candidates much senior to them. Taking a cue from the recent controversy, the
Railway Board is said to have ideated and proposed a minor re-alignment in the
composition of the selection board to rule out a remote possibility of any
awkward situation in the future.
